Introducing: Jefa Thoughts
There are several reasons behind wanting to start a blog. Some are personal, just for my own sanity, and others could be strategic. But, regardless of those reasons, the main reason is that I don’t want to be a writer who doesn’t write.
Let me explain.
For the last two years since my book came out, I’ve gone from creative burnout to creative overwhelm to what I’m now calling my creative acceptance era. As a creative, I’m used to having 8 million ideas pop up at once, and this is when my strategist brain kicks in to try and rein it in. But I’ve learned that it’s healthy to have a balance and it’s important to have flexibility in our roadmaps—even if that means letting our not fully fleshed out ideas release themselves into the world.
So here it is: Jefa Thoughts was born because I am a writer who wants to write— and specifically write about this phase of life I’m in.
This is my early 30s phase where I’m navigating what seems like new phases of life that no one has prepared me for. The phase where my career is everything I once dreamed of but I’m learning that if I don’t heal my inner child, I will not be able to progress. The phase where I’m too busy to even make a sandwich and yet I still want to do more. The phase where everything feels like it’s falling into place yet I’m longing for motherhood but my body seems to be fighting me. The phase where I’m building a legacy with my husband but also starting to take care of my parents. The phase where I’m consistently asking myself if I can really have it all or if I’m dreaming too big.
I want to share my thoughts on this phase - this crossroads, or evolution, or pivotal decade - whatever it is. Because if my journey as an author has taught me anything, is that we need more multicultural voices sharing their stories in order to help more people be inspired to take action and most importantly feel less alone.
Here’s to the start of a new journey. I look forward to being on it with whoever is reading.
I’ll be posting on here regularly and sharing through my bi-weekly newsletter La Hoja + my social media platforms @ashleykstoyanovojeda (LinkedIn, Threads, IG).
